Hello Darklings! It's been a while since I last uploaded a blog, the reason for this is because I'm back at college. This time I will be doing the HNC in Contemporary Art Practice.
Now you guys know I'm a spooky kinda ghoul by nature, I'm already excited that Halloween is just around the corner! There are probably some out there thinking it's still ages away, and don't see the reason to get excited. To them, I simply say:
Anyhow back to the jewellery aspect of this blog! Now to get in the Halloween mood I have made some spooky jewellery ready for All Hallows eve, now these are just a taster of what's to come. I will, as usual, be posting my Halloween blog on the 31st of October and will discuss how the jewellery was made and give some tips on how to make them, but for now I will leave you with some photographs of the items I have made over the past two days. Hello Darklings I haven't posted anything in a little while because my camera had broken so I couldn't take any photographs of any of my new jewellery. I couldn't even take photographs of my fun day at the Culloden Battlefield craft fair!
It was an amazing day as so many people were captivated by my jewellery, which I have to admit was a great feeling. Even better was that most of these people were not of an alternative persuasion!
This is one of the pendants that was sold at the craft fair and the fact that I would not replicate this pendant made the buyer want it even more so that she had something that was unique just for her.
Bat Wing Pendant
So while I was awaiting my camera to be fixed I was making quite a fair bit of jewellery, mostly earrings as I have to re-stock my polymer clay. I enjoy sculpting jewellery with my hands and when I don't have any materials to sculpt jewellery I feel quite lost!
Before I ran out of polymer clay though I did make this bat wing pendant, at first I thought it may make quite a cool single earring, but it is quite a sizeable piece of jewellery and I have to remember not everyone likes big bold jewellery! So I decided to make it a pendant hence why it has a silver wire decoration. This also acts as the bail for the pendant.
The iridescent colours inside of the bat wing were achieved by using mica powders, these are great when working with polymer clay. Any chance I get to use them I will! To keep the colours looking fresh I coat the polymer clay pendant in a glaze of resin. This also adds strength to my
jewellery especially when there are very delicate decals on my jewellery and this just makes the polymer clay jewellery last longer.
I haven't put a glaze on this pendant yet as I have other projects I'm working on as well, which I will post soon.

Hello Darklings as promised I have been busy making jewellery now that my work at college is done, Finally!
So I have been playing around with textures in these pendants and I had so much fun trying out new textures and different shapes. I have also tried different styles and approaches to making new jewellery.
These new pendants are quite simple in design but even though they may look it, these pendants certainly aren't easy to make! One finger print or even just handling the clay in the wrong way and the textured design will be ruined meaning it will have to be texturised again.
Even when placing one shape on top of the other care must be taken not to smudge the textured surface or distort the shape of the pendant.
The lovely shimmery and jewel like colours on the polymer clay is mica powders and I love mica powders as they just make the polymer clay just look so much more beautiful :)

Hello Darklings it's been a while since I've written anything on here, but due to a busy year at college my time has been taken up by studies.
Anyway enough about college, so I'm excited about making new jewellery I have new designs I want to try out and different materials I want to incorporate into my jewellery. So keep an eye out for new designs during the summer months.
I have made two new pendants from polymer clay and dichroic glass, I have use these two materials in my jewellery before because I just love polymer clay and this glass they just go together like strawberries and cream!
Polymer Clay Gothic Flower Pendant
Everything was handmade on this pendant, except the silver mount and dichroic glass. Each tiny purple leaf was handmade and delicately put around the glass. When I say delicate work I mean sweating bullets delicate work! It was the was the same delicate work with the black swirls of polymer clay around the dichroic glass.
Fairy Tale Garden Pendant
This pendant was made in the same way as the pendant above. This pendant as you probably guessed from the title of the pendant was inspired by fairy tales and fairy gardens. It looks very delicate but it's quite a substantial pendant. These will be put onto ribbons and if you happen be in Inverness or live in Inverness then you can see Haunted Moon Jewellery at Culloden Battlefield on the 25th to the 26th of june! Hello Darklings! Now as you know I've been studying art at Inverness College and I thought I'd share some of my work with you guys.
I know it's not jewellery but in the meantime I thought I'd just share some of my work because I haven't posted anything for months. Each one will have a title and a wee description of what mediums I used and where the location was.
Culloden Battlefield
This is a painting of the little historical cottage that is situated at Culloden Battlefield. I decided to paint this little cottage because the location is just so beautiful and the cottage itself is just amazing to see. The cottage itself was most likely built
around the early 1800s. The cottage was built using local stone and turf. At the time of the battle at Culloden this little cottage was most likely used as a field hospital for injured and sick soldiers.
It was definitely the history behind this part of Culloden that made me want to paint it. I have always loved this little cottage so much so that some of my wedding photographs where taken at this location.
With this painting I used a mix of pencil drawing and watercolour paints just to add some colour.
The Loch
This is a painting of the loch that connects to the Moray Firth in the Highlands. I love this part of Inverness especially during the summer as the sunsets over the hills are just so beautiful.
This painting was done by using a mix of ink and watercolour.
The View From The Window
This painting was, well the view from my window. This painting is not my favourite as personally I'm not a fan of drawing or painting modern buildings. I prefer cottages and churches as they
have more character. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go out and about on this certain day so just painted what was out my window and there's not much more to say about this particular painting.
This painting was done in watercolour.
Railway Tracks
This painting is of the railway tracks that go through Culloden woods and in the mornings it tends to be rather misty in the background. I really love this part of Culloden woods as it's just so pretty and tranquil, until a train comes rumbling by!
This painting was also done using ink and watercolour.
Snowy Landscape
This painting started out as a pencil drawing as I was on my way down to Glasgow when I drew it. Me and the hubby stopped off just so I could get a quick rough sketch of the landscape. I never took my water colours with me so I painted it when I came home from well deserved night of heavy metal!
I believe this landscape is part of the Cairngorm National Park in the highlands. The landscape here is just breath taking and I love going past it when on car journeys when going to either Glasgow or Edinburgh

Hello Darklings I finally got some of my jewellery modelled! The model is my sister.
I'm just going to post the photographs of her because there's not much I can say about the modelling. Except a very big thank you to my sister for being an exceptional model and for having the patience when I was getting the lighting right.

Hello Darklings and a Happy New Year to all of you! So I'm on my Christmas holidays and had some time to make jewellery. This time I have been working with metal, shaping and hammering metal to be precise.
These earrings are made from gun metal coated copper which I decided to hammer the living hell out of and then shape into these lovely curved shaped earrings. To achieve the curved shape I used the rounded part of the ball pein hammer as it curves naturally.
The blog was a bit short this time, as I'm being kept busy with College work. Hopefully, the next blog will feature a bit more content, but until then, Keep It Spooky Children Of the Night!
