Vampire Inspired Gauntlets

I love the whole idea of fantasy jewellery; to make something different and eye catching. I had the idea for these gauntlets last year, but I wanted to perfect the design before I decided to put it up for sale. Most Gothic cuffs are just solid black and there's not much in the way of design, so I feel that experimenting with colour in Gothic jewellery opens up a massive amount of variation in my designs. 

As much as I love making Gothic jewellery, it can be quite challenging. I'm always looking for new ideas, that incorporate various colours and textures, so that each design has a uniqueness to it. I am currently designing some 'lolita' style cuffs, but until I bring in more fabrics it'll remain a design for now.

The gauntlets took around three hours to make. I used the sewing machine because its quicker and I have a choice of stitch detail which adds to the design of the cuff. By hand it would have took me three days and the stitch detail would not have been as intricate. I used a heavy faux black leather and red PVC in this gauntlet. The spikes just add that bit of ooomf to any cuff design. I have looked at lots of different spikes for these cuffs and some are just awesome like dragon claw spikes and cat claw spikes. I will get some of these and incorporate them into my future designs. 

When making the cuffs I don't use real leather. I use leatherettes which are easier to work with. plus I don't have the tools to work with heavy leather.  Also with leatherettes I can incorporate frills and sequins, yes I said sequins, because something different is always good!

I thought I'd give a masquerade mask a go, and for a first attempt, I don't think I did too bad a job. I want to make more masks and experiment with all different kinds of styles and fabrics.

I love novelty little rings like this. Its just fun and goes with any Gothic, heavy metal or punk outfit. These little rings are easy enough to make and I just love making them.  Again I will be making them in all kinds of designs and fabrics.

'But Raven!' I hear you cry, 'women can just wear the same ones as the men!' Well yes they can, but I know of some women that wish that the gauntlets were a little bit more feminine. So I gave it some thought, and came up with this one. One of my personal favourites, it has frills, spikes and purple stitching. I am also looking to experiment with more variations of male and female gauntlets.
